First Time Mum - Pushchair Question

I have been looking at pushchairs and its all very confusing and expensive.

I just wondered, with a newborn, do I need a 3 in 1? Pushchair, Carry Cot and Car Seat? Or would a newborn be perfectly fine in a Car Seat and Pushchair (when it gets older)? Do we have to get a Carry Cot as well?

i'm a first time mummy as well, & have gone with the advice of others. we went with a travel system, as we'll be using the car somewhat, but i did get a carrycot with it, as when they're very small, they should be lying down rather than sitting in a car seat, from what i've heard.

Personally I would be getting one that has a pram feature... unless LO will never be in the buggy long in the 1st few months as it is not good for their spine to be sat (as in how they willbe in car seat) for long periods of time.

Oh and most hospitals wont let you leave unless you have a proper car seat.

For me there was no way I could afford one of those prams that the carry cot comes off etc as Iwanted new so Iwent for the silver cross 3d, its a pramette that you can attach the car seat into if need be.

My friend hwever is buying a pram wich also has a seat unit, and a seperate car seat.

It's all so confusing but if you can get to a place like the pram centre or babies r us they will show you different ones and help out.

well ive always had the travel system which is the car seat and pram as its just easier to get the carseat out of the car and put it straight in the pram otherwise you have to move them and wake them. now i wouldnt buy the 3-1 as i drive most places so wouldnt use it. x

i've been trying to do research into this lately. newborns cant stay in a car seat for more than 2 hours, its much better for them to be lying flat. there are some travel systems where the pushchair bit can lie completely flat i think, but most of them the pushchair bit is recommended from about 6 months so you need the carrycot part too. I went into John Lewis and they showed my loads, but im sure there was one that was suitable from birth without a carrycot, but i have been looking at so many i cant remember exactly!!
this is my first so im sure someone with a bit more excperience might be able to help better! but i would go into shops and try them out!
x

The one i bought last time the car seat also lay down so i had a car seat and pram...however when i do it again i will be getting a carry cot also as they are quite handy and if you're planning for more children then wont be too expensive.

I've gone for the Quinny Buzz 4, with the carrycot, & car seat, (it comes with the seat, which I think can be used from birth). However, I like the idea of the baby laying flat whenever possible. Good luck, there's so much to choose from isn't there!!

We are looking at travel systems that have fully reclining seats. I would never be able to pay $300 for a carrycot that can be used for only 6 months I would ratehr put the extra loot into getting a more expensive travel system.

Had a look at Silver Cross 3D on youtube, I like the idea of the converting!.

http://www.youtube.com/user/Kiddicare They have quite alot of video reviews , could be useful to help us all get an idea!.
