Hi there -I know how you feel about hating being signed off sick in a new job, but I think that 29 weeks is the earliest you can officially start maternity leave.

Do you not get sick pay? Cos, the earlier you start mat leave, then the sooner you have to go back to work after baby is born. But I can understand if you donr get full sickness pay how that would be impossible.

Hope you feel better soon xxx

Hi,
Not sure how the pay works if you haven't been there that long. But you should be able to leave from 29 weeks (11 weeks from the sund before due date). You may also have accrued some holiday since working there that you can take before this, so it may be worth checking how much holiday you have left to take and this could bring the date forward. I think you need to tell work when you plan to leave by week 25 though so they can sort it all out (but again I'm not sure if this is the same if you haven't worked there for so long).

sorry I can't be much help, may be worth checking out the direct.gov website and see if that helps.

I hope you start feeling better soon
xx

Hi, dont know if its any help.. but i am 24 weeks and have 4 weeks left at work.. i am putting all my yearly holiday before my maternity leave.
So you can do that... makes it a bit shorter.. i think if your signed off sick with pregnancy related illness your work can put you on maternity leave a month earlier.

Hope this helps!1 xxxx
