swelling hands

hey ladies can someone help me please, my hands have really swollen up tonight, to the point where they feel really uncomfortable, hard to make a fist, and can get my rings off. is this anything to be worried about? thanks in advance x

I think swelling of the hands etc is just a normal pregnancy thing - mine have swollen since the weekend and my wedding & engagement rings were soooo incomfortable through the night on Saturday night that I had to force them off and have not been able to get them back on again. Yours sound quite swollen though so maybe just have a word with your midwife? the only reason I say this is that I've been in and out of the maternity unit and hospital the past couple of days with very high blood pressure and she told me that high bp can be a sign of pre-eclampsia and that in the past they used to class swelling of the hands and ankles as one of the symptoms of pre eclampsia but not so much any more. It's most probably not that but maybe best just to have a word with your midwife just to be sure, if they are very swollen?? My midwife did say that swelling of the hands etc is pretty normal in pregnancy but it's maybe best just to be sure.
