My angelsounds ended up getting lobbed against the wall in a temper, and I am renting a hi-bebe now and they are 100x better.

I would defo use your ipod headphones, they should be clearer and you have to use some kind of gel. Embarrasingly, we didn't have any so I used durex lube but that seemed to work okay. It didn't work at all without gel as you need it to conduct the sound. I did find the placenta but it was causing me more stress than good. You can't angle it properly like you can with a 'wand' one, which makes it much easier to find the heartbeat. I was about 11 weeks then?

A full bladder does help as it pushes baby up.

Hi, I have an angelsounds. By electrical buzzing, do you mean like a mobile phone electrical sound? Cause I get that when my mobile is too close!

Otherwise the noise I get is a loud (oh god I cant describe it, but its loud) I find the heartbeat by pushing down through this noise.

I use water or moisteriser, whichever is closer, probably moisteriser is better as it doesn't roll off and make your bed wet. It helps when you want to move around whilst still pressing down.

In the beginning I found the heartbeat low down, and had to press quite hard.

Look on utube maybe for some videos.
I found mine at about 10 weeks, but that was pressing hard, and it took hours!

When you do find it, its all you can hear. I held my iphone up to the headphones and recorded it to send to my OH, and its pretty loud.

Mine has been fantastic. I don't get a buzzing but I imagine that will be from some kind of electrical interference, as it uses sound waves to pick up the heartbeat. Try turning things off in the room, and moving your phone away.
Ipod earphones are the best - and I used oil with mine...baby oil or something like that. You definately need something to help the sound transmit, and oil or gel are the best things.
I didn't use mine much, but when I did, it was great. I found the heartbeat easily at 11 weeks - but I know it can be much later than that. x

I was wondering for those ladies with the angelsounds -

Did you get the buzzing?
How can you hear a heartbeat over that??
How far were you when you did find it?
Does a full bladder really help?
Did you use gel? Or water? Or nothing at all. wondering about quite a lot!

I've used my ipod earphones, OH phillips earphones and the headphones from the box. Same thing.

My midwife found the little heartbeat yesterday, straight away with her doppler so I know it's there and it's safe and I also know where it should be, even if I can't find it on my doppler yet.

But I can't hear a whooshing, I can't hear my heartbeat either. Just a horrible buzzing which incidently gets louder when it's where the babys heartbeat should be... Any advice would be great

Thank you xxx
When you're using it are you near the the phone line or plug sockets etc......? I found i have to be in a certain place in my lounge or bed that I can use the doppler without the the interference. Also cause I had my doppler of a friend I had to replace the battery and since then its been great. I use a gel and make sure i have a semi filled bladder. I heard my when I was 8 weeks pregnant

Hahaha, I think OH got all excited when he saw lube out on the side, poor man has been on a sex ban for so long he has forgotton what it's like, might as well get some use out of it!

Good luck, you will KNOW when you hear it. It's like a train going passed.

There is a slight buzzing when I use my angelsounds (we have alot of electronic devices in the area). However, this hasn't caused any issues with hearing the heartbeat. I got a free bottle of ultrasound gel with mine and I always use that. I would think that KY jelly should work much the same. I didn't get my doppler til I was 17 weeks, so a bit further on than you. We found my heartbeat (via abdominal aorta) and baby's heartbeat which beats about twice as fast. I find it to be very reassuring. I think you should definitely have a go with some gel. Good luck

hope you don't mind me popping over from trimester 1!

I use a angelsounds doppler and can't speak highly enough of it! I found cupcakes heartbeat for the first time at 8 weeks 6 day! a few tips i have learnt

* use plenty of gel
* I find the best time is a couple hours after you last peed, you don't want to be bursting but you don't want a empty bladder either
* don't try just after you have eaten or when you are hungry because then you get stomach noises in the way.
* move very slowly and wait for 5-6 seconds at each point as sometimes you hear nothing then it slowly picks up the beat
* apply a little pressure, don't hurt yourself but i find i have to push down a little
* be patient
* relax and try to blockout the other noise you hear, i hear the heartbeat in the background but just focus on just the heartbeat and it becomes clearer
* i find the best headphones are the ones that come with it

anyway hope you figure it out soon
