Cold and sore throat remedies?

Ive developed a cold and sore throat over the course of the day and i was wondering what i can take? Ive got vick rub and i know i can take paracetamol if needed for a sore throat.Can i use the vicks vapour rub and have strepsils as well for a sore throat?

Strepsils are not recommended due to the numbing ingredient which can slow down baby's heartbeat (pharmacist said i could take a couple a day but I didn't bother). On the other hand you can take Lockets

Just don't over do it as it's full of glucose lol. The vicks rub is fine too. I had plenty of warm water with lemon juice and a spoon of honey - seems to be the most effective. GL!!

Thanks for your reply.Normally when not pregnant i would use vicks on my chest anyway but wasnt sure coz i never had a cold in my last pregnancy

As long as i can still use that i can get by on just honey and lemon and paracetamol if throat gets to bad.Im still suffering with ms so im not having fun at all even more so now this has come

vicks on your throat helps a sore throat hun xx i still got a cold n i smother my neck in vicks!

I'm using Boots Simple Linctus....just a glucose mixture with honey and lemon. Dirt cheap from Boots. Its not fab, but it helps a bit when it gets really dry and you just can't shift the dryness with drinks/liquid.

Having a cold whilst preg is not funny at all! You don't realise how much the 'normal' cold remedies actually help, till you can't have them!

Thanks guys

I have sent OH to buy me some lemons i already have honey.As long as i can have my vicks rub then i can survive on that and honey and lemon.Dont think its a bad cold but enough to keep me awake at nights

But this on top of ms is really not fun what so ever

A longtime indian remedy I use is to take about a spoonful of Ginger juice...add honey...and a little black pepper. Sounds strange but makes your throat feel great afterwards!

u can do this several times throughout the day.

warm salty water for your nose and throat. Works wonders!!! My cold cleared up in 4 days. And also rest rest rest.

vicks, lemon and hot water, paracetemols and try the steam thing as well (where you put your head over a bowl of steam and put a towel over your head) hope your better soon
