Can someone run through nub theory?

I have no idea what to look for in determining gender. We are having a 21 week scan next week however the hopsital trust will not reveal gender.

Roughly speaking what should I be looking for (apart from the obvious!)

As far as I know, nub theory only applies when the baby is 11-14 weeks (ish). At 21 weeks, you need a crotch shot from below for the best guess. If it's a boy you will see a scrotum and a penis from below. If it's a girl you see a 'hamburger' shape, or 3 lines which outline the vulva.
Good luck and have fun guessing! There's a thread on 2nd tri today showing a great example of boy bits just for reference.

Great thanks for that. I have been looking at ingender.com for 2 days and I just dont see what other people see.

I think we may need to invest in a private gender scan!

A private scan is a good idea. Then you'll know for sure and won't be wondering for the next few months! We recently had a 3d scan (staying on team yellow), and the pictures were amazing. I think you'd get a very clear crotch shot if you did 3d.

I have just booked one! Lol. They will do a 3d scan so hopfully the baby will behave.

My mum was very against a gender scan but the whole family have taken to calling the baby "she" and oh has been calling it a girls name since the day we found out!

We are delighted with either sex but my mum now agrees that we should find out due to this irrational feeling that bubs is a girl!

Plus we have no boy name options yet!

Next sat at 3pm, we are taking my mum and day, its maybe a silly time to have it because the anomoloy scan is 2 days later!
