Try Fybogel or lactulose. I bought Fybogel over the counter from the chemist and it really helped me. Other than that, your doc will give you something for free...

Hi Noirin, your Dr will be able to prescribe you Lactulose to help but if you prefer to stick with natural remedies then I strongly recommend drinking prune juice, you can get it from most supermarkets, the brand is called 'Sunsweet'. Supermarkets make their own but I've nevere tried them so can't comment on thier taste. Although I do think prune juice is an acquired taste anyway but if you like it then it's fantastic for helping out in the going to the toilet more often area!

All the best, constipation can make you feel really ill so I hope you find something that works soon x

I'm still battling with it now hun but i think i've found something that works. I didn't want to any form of drug so tried Kelloggs raisin wheats. I have it for breakfast and usually go everyday now, if not ever other day. I find walking really helps as well. I feel your pain though as it really, really hurts at times! xxx

Oh I've had the fun and games since I was 8 weeks and it is really bad and extremely painful - nothing seems to work in my case.

I'm drinking lots of water, pear juice and lactulose, I find it does ease it somewhat. I originally got a bottle of lactulose over the counter from Boots £5.99 but my doctor has now given me a prescription which I'm getting renewed next week.

I have suffered too, one thing you need to be aware of is that constipation and straining can lead to piles!! Not nice!! Try to avoid them if you can!
