Yeah, my bleeding was so heavy that surprised me! Some hours after giving birth I got out of my bed for the first time since my shower, I was shocked to find the blood going down my leg, to the floor! My DH and Mum had already gone home and I was left alone in the delivery suite with the baby (we were waiting to be moved to the maternity ward). I had to clean myself up and the floor quickly before anyone came into the room, lol! I had to use quite a lot of maternity pads for the first few days.

with my first son the bleeding was really heavy and I lost lots of massive clots which turned out to be retained placenta.

With my second son the bleeding was no where near as bad was just like a normal period and only lasted about 4 days.

My biggest fear was the poo after giving birth lol

Yes. I had a c-section and I bled just as long, if not longer, than some of my friends who had vaginal births. It was heavy for the first several days, but after that it was like a regular period for about two weeks, and then for another two weeks it was light, almost brown/pinkish. Overall I bled for about 4 weeks afterwa rds, which is quite normal from what I understand. It's really not that bad.

6 weeks, heavier than a regular period (and mine are heavy anyways). The last two weeks were lighter...like a light period. My sister was the same. You will need LOTS of maxi pads. I am sure everyone is different. Because I had a c-setion, my OB/GYN let me use tampons after three weeks, but I only did to swim because it kind of hurt in there. Yup...heavy heavy heavy. Clots...HUGE ones.

I was on double pads for over a week and then like a period for another 4-5. I breast fed too so don't think it makes any difference to how much or little you bleed. It's really not that bad though as the other Mum's have said and you will be so pre occupied with your little bundle of joy you won't even notice it!
