Life on the farm (*sigh*)

I know I shouldn't complain, we chose this life, but we had bred our race mare for the second time and she is due may second, well she has decided she wanted it now, she has all the signs of wanting have her baby, we have her on meds to try and slow her down, because if she had it now it would die.(not strong enough)
so every night I wake up on the hour to turn on the tv to watch her( cameras in the stall) , we like to be there for the delivery so she would be safe, I am so tired! I told hubby the next baby we have she is to not be expecting also!!!!
so anyway I just kinda needed a rant in a way...my frustrations

that really sucks. altho i am envious of your life. my goal in life is to have a horse ranch and do my own breeding and training. instead i live in a crappy apt and my only pet is a fish

Good luck, I hope she manages to hold onto her foal, a really good friend of mine has a stud farm so I know how full on it is when the mare's are expecting. I hope you've got a good vet too. You look after yourself though as well, not good for you to be getting so little sleep.

It is a pain how they generally foal at night. If she is early then hopefully the vet can stop things - although we have never been there at foaling. She has been checked on but generally foals alone and there have never been any issues. Like the other ladies have said - can hubby not check her? You need all the sleep you can get!

thanks ladies! hubby works from 5:00am to 3:30pm and when he gets home he has to do the snow plowing, bringing in, hay bales in and out, he doesn't get into eat dinner till 8pm sometimes, and bed by 9pm. so he is limited for sleep also, we have barn help for 4 hours everyday so I can sneak a nap in, the last foal she had was born at 11:00 am.
mares are in foal in around 11 months
