where are you planning on going hun? i can see your moms concerns she is your mom
i would make sure that you can get the care that you need where you are going aka make sure they have a suitable place for you to be looked after and get travelers insurance in case something does go wrong other wise i think you should be fine.

Is it a short flight? As far as what my doctor tells me flying up until 8 months is safe, he wouldn't recommend flying any later than that. I would personally say if your pregnancy hasn't had complications it is safe to fly.

I'm booked to go to the Dominican the end of May for my sister's wedding. I'll be 34 weeks. The airline I'm flying with said I can fly up to 35 weeks...and between 36-39 weeks I would need a dr's note. I think I am going to get the dr's note anyways, just so I don't have a hassle at the airport.

I'm still planning on going unless something comes up before May (complications etc) that don't allow me to go.

I am flying at 27 weeks & my doc. said that she would be giving me a note, before I even asked for one. So make sure you take one with, just in case.
I'm from southern Africa & I personally wouldn't go during pregnancy - if you have the choice, stay where you can get decent care. My husband & I were looking at where to go on holiday & I thought about Tunisia or Egypt, but decided against it just because if something happens & I go into labor prematurely, I don't know how the care would be. Having said that, I also don't know about the care in Sicily (where we decided to go in the end) but I feel a lot better about there than Africa.

I recently learned something interesting about flying...

Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen’s book “YOU Having a Baby” notes that flying exposes mother and baby to radiation. Apparently, 30 hours of flying provides the same amount of radiation as a chest x-ray. The authors clarify that this does not necessarily mean that flying will cause any harm to the baby, but they suggest parents consider whether each trip they take while pregnant can wait just as a precaution.

I've got to go on quite a few business trips while pregnant - and at 27 weeks I'll be on a 12 hour flight. Yuk! I think we just have to be more careful about DVT and hydration, which makes sense.

Also, as you might end up being uncomfortable, it's well worth asking if they have an upgrade when you check in. That's what I intend to do!

I wouldn't be worried about the flying. I've traveled so much so far in my pregnancy and it's not over yet! Went to India (17 hr flight one way), and Chicago multiple times (3 hr flights).

Since you're going for 2 months, I would just be concerned about prenatal care during your holiday. 2 months is too long to go without being seen by a doctor so just make sure you have that set up and enjoy!
