Hayfever - doing my head in already and it's only April!!!

Morning girls

Well yesterday I was sneezing, nose running and eyes streaming, just as I have recovered from my cold!!! OH said I started sneezing when I moved our cockatiels cage yesterday morning for feeding but that was just a coincidence, he wouldn't have it though. So today, I am just as bad.

It's only April, if I'm this bad now, what will I be like in the summer!!! I got hayfever in the UK but since moving to Greece and now and now Bulgaria, I have felt healthier than ever ............ until now!!!!

So I am presuming anti histamines are out, so what have you girls who suffer the same (please tell me I'm not alone!!!) been prescribed?? The only reason I ask is they may not have the same thing over here, so wanted to throw a fwe things at the doc to see if anything stands out for him.

Can anyone help????

I can sympathise, although I dont only get reactions to pollen, its hair and dust too, not good when you have a dog and a cat! But its definetly got a bit worse the last week or two, infact I just had a sneezing attack there...the only thing that I was told I could use was a nasal spray called Beconase and eyedrops called Opticrom...I actually find the eye drops are very good, use them 4 or 5 times a day on a bad day, and they do help! Not sure what theyre names will be in bulgaria, but you can get them at a pharmacist so you could ask, see if they help at all!

Hello!

I have the same problem and have been told the nasal sprays are all safe so have been prescribed fluticasone (bit stronger than beconase) and also the sodium cromoglycate eye drops. My GP also gave me a few piriton tablets, but they're only allowed from 12 weeks and have been shown to affect the baby also when you get to the third trimester so really for very bad days only (when the histamines you produce from the allergy would affect the baby more than the medication). Hoping for a cool summer, and have got the OH to do all the dusting. Cats are dogs are also banned within a 2 mile radius.

Hope you fel better

Hi all

Thanks for your replies, sorry couldn't reply earlier but been very busy.

Well, for 2 days I suffered and now I'm not that bad at all!!! Not sure what it was all about, I've already had a cold, but I knew this was hayfever. Something definately set me off but not sure what. Anyway, going to the docs to check on blood tests this week so will ask him what, if anything, he can prescribe that is available here.

Thanks again for you info, I'll ask about the meds you mention
