Reality Check!

Hi guys, had my 16 week appointment with the midwife today, no scan just a check up. Everything is still going well. At the scans i was told i had a retroverted uterus which is now lifting up nicely!.....so hopefully no c-section!
Babies heartbeat was 140 bpm, so does that indicate a boy or girl? From what ive read under 150bpm normally indicates girl....... keeping my fingers crossed!
Just had to share with you because its only just started to sink in that im actually going to be having a baby!!!!
I did get told off though because i have a busy job and lift things quite alot! The midwife told me that heavy lifting can cause you to rip the placenta obviously causing serious problems! ...... no lifting now!
Sorry if this is boring to you! but i just had to tell someone and everyone is at work!!!!!
Hope all bumps are well? xx

Just updated this because if forgot to add the exciting bit! MW confirmed the fluttering feeling ive had is in fact baby moving not wind like i thought!!!! should feel proper movement in the next few weeks! how exciting!!!
Thanks for all your replies and good wishes xx

Glad everything is ok
That's interesting what your mw told you about heavy lifting.... is it because of the shape of your uterus that she said this....
I thought it was only dangerous to the Mum, what with ligments being less stable, and your balance being off... I didn't think it was actually dangerous to the bub?

Glad your appointment went well. I don't think the heartbeat thing is completely accurate (like most things determining sex) so I wouldn't go by it...

Congrats! Glad it went so well for you!

I always thought it was over 150 was a girl and under was a boy? I dont think its accurate anyway as beanies has always been between 130 and 140 and shes a girl!!

Are you going to find out the sex?

I honestly don't know what Hannah's heartrate has been as they haven't told me. But I have lots of family who thought they were having little boys because of the heartrate and ended up having girls

I agree with you about the heartbeat.

Quite truly, the heartbeat of a baby will determine how active the baby is at that time. Think about our heartbeat. When we run, our heartbeats get faster and when we are at rest, our heartbeat is slower.

Besides, the wives tale is that if the heartbeat is over 150 then it is a girl. I've said this before, my daughter's heartbeat varied between 150 to 135, so that wives tale is debunked for me.

It's not a secure way of guessing the sex, but yeah, lower is supposedly boy and higher is supposedly girl.

Glad all went ok.
