VBAC vs C-Secton

Hello Ladies,

We went to our doctors appt yesterday to discuss having a VBAC or a C-Section. He said that I am 25 years old and that the chances of me healing quickly like the first time with a c-section is very high. That was one of my fears, because when I was 19 I bounced right back and wasn't sure if that was going to happen this time. He told me I could do what I want to do, but I could tell her was leaning toward c-section. What would you do if you had the choice?

Hi i had a c section with my little girl it was an emergency.I was in labour for 3 days and her heart rate was dropping and her blood sugar levels were low so they rushed me off.I was put right under genral anesthic and my OH wasnt allowed in coz it was a rush job.I healed were quickly it was only 14 months ago and im nearly 26.I was getting up and trying to do stuff on day 6 of the op didnt have any problems except i had a womb infection but was put on anitbotics twice to clear it up.Other then that i was fine no complaints recovered quickly no problems.Im going for another c section this time simple reason is because i could of lost my little girl coz they kept me labour to long so im pushing again for another im not going through that again coz it was scarey at the time didnt really know what was going onIt depends on you how you feel Cant really say im going by what happend to me and why i want another one this time.

u should look at the reason for ur previous section and weigh that up with the chances of going through a natural delivery. For eg did u come into labour last time or not. People have sections for various reasons, some would be recommended to have a natural birth 2nd time, some would be recommended to have a section. If the consultant hasnt said either way then im sure theyd be happy for u to go for a vbac otherwise theyd advise against. Since uve had the section before u'll be monitored closley leading up to the due date to re assess the issue anyway, and probably another consultant appointment near the end, so whatever decision u make now could change anyway xx

I haven't decided yet. My consultant yesterday said it was entirely our choice.

I had an emergency section with my first. I laboured, dilated and pushed but couldn't deliver her. They found she was lying sideways and so took me to theatre for trial by forceps. They managed ot turn her but couldn't get her to descend even with me pushing and forceps so then went to C/S.

I can't make my mind up as it was so awful I really don;t want to go through all that again but....I have a toddler and I could really do without surgery.

Alex
