In a Panic....

Sorry, a bit off the topic but I am in a total panic about my living arrangements.

I currently live at home but my mum wants me to move out. The council won't help me as I earn too much, although maternity pay will be pretty rubbish when I am on it. I can't afford to privately rent, with 1/2 beds in London costing at least £700 per month.

I am in a complete panic about how I am going to do this and I just want to set up home for me and my baby. I think I am entitled to housing benefit when I am on leave and my pay goes down but that wont happen until I have actually had the LO.

when baby is born take your baby birth certificate to your local housing and a letter from your mum saying that she wants you out and that your off work on maternity pay and want be going back to work(weather you are or not) just say that to them. tel them that your on your own have go no support then they will have to sort out some sort of housing for you..even if thats a one bedroom for now or a hostal until they can move you into a 2bedroom house/flat...by law they have to house you if youve got no where to live and have a new born baby.

talk to Citizens advise they will advice you ..good luck xx

Thanks all.

Its a horrible situation, there is just no help for us people in the middle. My mum wants me out before the baby is born and although she would let me stay after its born until I sort myself out, having the constant digs about moving out is really upsetting me. She thinks I am loaded and can afford to rent privately and its just not an option. She really doesn't realise how hard it is.

If I save big time, I should be able to rent for two months but then I need my housing benefit to come through quick time! I can see it all not working. x
