Rocking chair

Hi Ladies,

I was wondering if anyone of you is planning to buy a rocking chair for the nursery?
Moms who already have kids, do you think it is a useful piece of furniture to buy?
I am in US, any links to rocker chairs you own/like is appreciated

I am hoping to get a glider, I have a friend that used one for both of her children and she said that it was fantastic as you get tired of gigging up and down! She also said that if you position it in the right place next to the cot you can glide with the baby until they get to sleep and then carry on the movement and place them in the cot without waking them IYGWIM?

I found a used rocking chair in great shape which I bought. I don't like the gliders, so I was lucky to find the 'old school' wooden rocker I wanted.

I'm sat in mine right now!

It's a Shermag, glider & recliner... The baby already seems to enjoy being rocked in it, I feel her start squirming away for a bit, then she seems to have a snooze!

We got it from Babies R Us, it was shop floor stock so it was reduced by a lot - $320 (or so) down to $160 I'd defo recommend going into a Babies R Us store to see what they've got on special.

So far I'd recommend it. I was told to avoid Walmart (Storkcraft) as they are not durable at all! When I posted that I'd got a Shermag on an American Mum's forum, I had a lot of feedback saying that it was a very good brand to go for and people were still using their glider many years on...

I think this is the one we've got:

Doesn't come with a footstool/ottoman (we're considering buying one separately) but Amazon has some good deals on Shermag if you want to have a look on there...

Obviously the items have all the reviews to look at too
