sciatica would start in your very lower back/middle of your bum cheek and radiate down the back of your thigh and side of your leg.

Yeah, I have all kinds of other vag and bum pain going on.

Hi Proudmum, Symphis pubis dysfunction (spd) or pelvic girdle pain (pgd -same thing just another name) or in some areas called pelvic instability (pi) causes these types of pains. Worth mentioning to your mw and possibly getting a physio referral if it doesn't go away or improve.

Meantime - try to keep your knees together -when getting out of car, out of bed etc (roll onto your side)
--sit down to put on undies, trousers, shoes etc -never stand on one leg for any length of time.
--Go up / down stairs one step at a time (one foot, follow with other foot -same step)
--watch your posture - roll up a towel for lumbar support when sitting
--refrain from hoovering,pushing shopping trolleys

Heat packs can help , as can doing pelvic floor exercises (A must!!!) . I have had spd for several weeks this pregnancy (and in previous pregnancy too) and I now have a support belt and crutches (from physio) and am on codeeine for pain. Hopefully your discomfort is just ligament's stretching etc and will settle soon, but worth a mention to your mw anyway.

Take care, hope you are okay xx

You could speak to your midwife to get referred to the obstertric physio for exercises to relieve PGP. Do you go to antenatal as they discuss it at length at the classes.

I also have SPD and what you described sounds like my symptoms. Also, my baby is breech, so he is doing a lot of kicking in an already-tender spot. Lots of women have SPD (and multiple times) without early labor or other issues. Just painful!

just like the women have told you, seperated pelvis, I've had it for most the pregnancies, and it just gets worse, and reappears every pregnancy.
