Cloth Diapers

Hi ladies!

My DH and I are thinking about using cloth diapers. Many of our friends chose that route, mainly for financial purposes, and they seem to really like them. We would like try cloth diapers (will probably keep some disposable diapers around until we really decide, think its a little more convenient on the go, but could be wrong). Anyways, what brands do you recommend, is there a place were we can buy the same brand cheaper (like outlet websites, etc) Also do you know of a good website that sells? Cloth diapers arn't very popular in Pennsylvania. so they are much tougher to find. Will probably need to purchase online. I would also like some sort of bag for on the go storage...and my biggest question of all...what do you do if you have a diaper filled with diarrhea style poop? Haha Sorry i just need to know! Thanks

We're planning on using cloth diapers too. If you pop into the natural parenting forum there is tons of stuff on cloth diapering. You can also see if any of the local cloth diaper companies offer cloth diaper workshops. DH and I are going to a cloth diaper workshop tonight, and they go over all the different types, brands, methods, etc.

I used cloth with our first. In hospital we used disposable. Only other time we used disposable were after night bath and if we were going out. I used a blue liner and the supermarket use to sell these Sanitary type pads for urine absorption. I haven't seen them on the shelves so I have no idea what I'm going to use this time round. As for running poo situation, the pilcher always caught it , gets messy but never took long to clean up the mess. I don't actually remember our girl having too many runny no.2's. I'm sure you'll be fine, just do what's best for you and bub.

TBH it really isn't hardly any more work than disposables, and trust me you will find it alot easier if you don't use disposables to start with, as PP said, pop over to natural parenting youll get lots of responses there

Good luck! Check out some of the different brand websites to see who carries them, here's one for example http://www.bumgenius.com/retailers.php. That can help you find places locally or online that you can get info from too. A lot of places you can even do a diaper registry.

We're going with the Bum Genius All-In-One Organic diapers, with a disposable (toilet flushable, biodegradable) liner to absorb the solid waste! We're also getting a mini-shower attachment for the toilet, to help rinse out the runny poo ones :-)

I'd check out eBay for stores (apparently they don't allow used ones which is dumb IMO, but whatever). There are other avenues for used ones in the US, you might just have to ask around. The natural parenting section has tons of info as well. I think you'll find a lot of modern cloth diapers are fleecy on the inside so poo just kind of shakes off. I've also got flushable liners to go with my pocket diapers.

Thanks girls!
It seems expensive upfront but i have a feeling its still cheaper in the long run. I think i may create a registry somewhere. That sounds like a fab idea! And im gonna go check out ebay now
