I have heard this before but don't know much about the evidence to back it up...

All I've found is that I only get heartburn when I eat bread, sandwiches, toast etc.

xx

I always wondered how a full head of hair floating within a bag of fluid within your womb which is enclosed within the layers of the abdominal cavity have any effect of heartburn taking place in the food pipe near your throat? It is known that during pregnancy the hormones cause the sphincter of the stomach to be lax and therefore allow the stomach acid to rise up, especially with a baby pressing on the internal organs. A 'small study' isn't going to convince me otherwise.

Of course, it is very common for women to experience heartburn. Also, it is very common to have a baby born with hair, doesn't mean there is a link.

Another tale from the olden days.

Even with my horrible heartburn and two babies with a full head of hair doesn't convince me either.

If this is true, I must be carrying a chimp...

I'm keeping Rennies in business single handedly. Gaviscon makes me want to be sick!

i had heartburn so bad with my daughter, i couldnt take gaviscon as i would be sick so had a mixture made up for me but couldnt take that either so had about a million packets od tums(may be not a million but felt like it lol), it was so bad i used to cry and then i had my daughter who had a great mop of hair at birth and her whole body was covered in fine dark hair, even on her ears which did eventually go but it is supposed to be a old wives tale but was true for me x
