this is what I've gotten so far:

Clothes
bottles (since I'll be bottle feeding)
pacifiers (stage one only because who knows if she'll actually take to them)
1 pack of diapers (plan to pick up another)
Crib
Mattress
Bedding
Extra sheets and extra blankets
burp cloths
digital thermometer
medicine dispenser kit
grooming kit
playpen (which was given to us and I wouldn't have gotten it myself as we live in a small apartment)
a bathtub helper (a mesh thing we can sit her in to bathe her)
washcloths

Need to get

the stroller and carseat
bath things
baby laundry soap

I started registries on babiesrus.com, target.com and amazon.com. It's a good way to organize what you need since it's easy to add and delete things from them. I like Babies R Us the best though because they have customer ratings and reviews and it's helpful to see what others have to say about specific products. There are so many of the same things so it made made it easer to choose. Also those sites have top registry and 5 star item links, and also a registry essentials link. Just looking through all the categories is a great way to figure out what you need.

i would really recommend buying some bottles just incase breast feeding doesnt go to plan or you have decided to do both, you have some at home ready and waiting. also the anti colic bottles like the tommy tippi ones are great for newborns, they are a bit more expensive but i found they were worth their weight in gold! (dr brown are good but leak....a lot!) oh and defo johnsons head to toe was - fab!!
