full bladder at 13 week scan??

hi ladies, sorry for popping in from 1st tri but i figured id get a better ans here. do i need a full bladder for a 13 week external scan? i had to have it v full for my 7 week scan but what abt 13 weeks? thanks!

They say you do because its easier to see the baby! It makes scanning easier. Well I had to have one anyway! Drank tons of water, was weeing so much haha

Not overly full they say drink a pint an hour before your scan, if you over drink they make you empty some of your bladder x

i have heared all this but when i went for mine i didnt drink anything more than i usually would of and you could clearly see eveything and baby was so active so not sure but whatever you feeel best with

I didn't and got told off by the sonographer..... she told me I should have had a pint and a half of water an hour or more before the scan.

I have a growth scan next Thursday, I will be 16 weeks and the letter says I need a full bladder for it.

So yeah, you will need a full bladder until they tell you otherwise.

i had full bladder but was told to empty it coz she couldn t see baby properly coz it was too full xx

I wasn't told about having a full bladder etc so I drank loads because all my friends said if it wasn't full enough I'd get sent away again. I ended up with my bladder too full and they couldn't see anything and sent me away to half empty it.

It was still even a bit too full and really uncomfortable so I would say 1 - 1.5 pints is plenty, plus make sure you drink it an hour before because apparently it takes time to filter through.

i think u have to have a full bladder i did 4 my 9 weeks one n on my letter 4 my 20weekscan it says full bladder too!xx
