Oooh what's the theory on waiting for the after birth etc to finish pulsing before cutting the cord?

Babies are less likely to develop anemia. Personally I just want the baby to get everything out of the placenta before it's detached.

Ditto, I was considering a lotus birth (where the placenta is kept attached until the cord falls off naturally) but with a first baby, I think it's just an extra thing to worry about for me... So I'm going for the next best thing. DH is going to cut the cord, so I think we'll just wait until it feels right too.

We were also thinking about donating cord blood, but having no insurance we're having to pay in full for the birth and everything too this time round, so having the amount of money to store the blood on top of that... I also read during my research on lotus births, that some people think it's more beneficial for the baby to get all the blood out of the cord into their body as a newborn, instead of taking it and storing it where it might not be used.

xx
