Thats so funny... i'm mostly working with women, and nearly all the men have small children, so they're used to it all... But my boss was showing me the booklet given to her by HR, like how to support your pregnant employee.. was all what to do if she goes into labour at work, how to deliver the baby, just the thought of it....

They have been really good though, she was going through all the list of possible symptoms to find out what i was struggling with, all fine till we came to 'weak bladder'! Thankfully not a problem yet, but as if i'd discuss it with her if it was!

But i really want to save my leave for when baby's here... One of my biggest worries is my waters breaking at work! i would be so mortified!
You should be fine... If you have to go off sick (which I guess is what you'd do if it became unworkable in the last few weeks...) then they start your mat leave automatically if it's in the last 4 weeks before due date...

I worked to 30ish weeks last time, as that's when it fell in with school hols and I didn't want to worka few weeks of a new term, but I needed to I teach technology and I was burning myself, cutting myself, hammering my fingers...

This time I plan to work until 35 weeks, but I'm part time now so I'm hoping that'll make life easier - and as it's end of summer term, all the making parts of projects should be done, so we can do graphics or computer work which should be less pressure on me!

I'm due 18th June and am looking to go on maternity leave from May 3rd. I've had a lot of grief in my pregnancy with bleeding, fainting and back troubles , and as I travel by train(and a very busy sardine First Great Western one at that), I can't see myself lasting doing that for 2 - 2 1/2 hours every day. As my doctor said too, it's the last time I will ever get any time to myself!!! He said so many women leave it til the last, and they feel worse for it. As I work in Bristol, I definitely don't want to be in a situation to have to be rushed to a hospital there!!
Equally so many friends and family are saying wait as long as I can, but I'd rather be safe than sorry, even though it may mean a few weeks less with my little man when he arrives!!!

I too am working until 2 weeks before my due date.
I work in a very stressful buying office but am going to just take it easy from now on...only 2 months to go! woo woo!

I went to China for a week with work last week and got very sick so have been off work all week on antibiotics which sucks, and have decided not to stress myself...its not worth it and its only a job! Will try to work as near to due date as possible. Im lucky though as OH only works around the corner, our apartment is a 4 min walk to work, and the hospital is only 5 mins drive away, so i guess if anything happens earlier than planned while im still at work, i should be ok...fingers crossed!

If you feel like youde be comfortable working till that late, there is no reason why you cant do it...some women finish up a month before and then are 3 weeks late! Not sure i could cope with sitting around the house for that long!! x
