| Pregnant (Expecting) Active BnB Member Join Date: Nov 2009 Location: California Posts: 79 | I was getting lower back pain after long days of sitting--finally went and got one of those exercise/birthing balls to sit on, and that has helped a ton. I keep one at school and one at home. I feel a little silly, but I think it just relieves the pressure on my tailbone and forces me to have better posture, which helps the back pain. It would depend somewhat on the kind of back pain you're having--but no matter what, I think long periods of staying in one position, especially with not-so-good posture, will make your back hurt right now. The bouncy ball helps! |

| Pregnant (Expecting) Chat Happy BnB Member Join Date: Nov 2009 Location: san diego Posts: 1,063 | I try to sit up as straight as possible with my back against the chair to help while I still have to be going to school, although I imagine work might be a little worse. But usually I just try to drink a lot of water, for some reason I find it helps alot, other than that its really hard to tell what makes my back pain go away, wish i was more help :/ |

| Pregnant (Expecting) Active BnB Member Join Date: Nov 2009 Location: pennsylvania Posts: 524 | i am THE QUEEN of back pain. before i was pregnant i had back pain all the time, to the point where i couldn't stand up straight. i have sciatic problems apparently. if you are sitting for long periods of time when the pain is occurring, stand up and talk a walk around the office. stand up straight and tall with your shoulders back. when you are sitting, prop your feel up. not saying prob your feet up on your desk at work, but get a little stool or something so you can put your feet on that. by doing this, you will take the pressure off your lower back. with the stool, put your feet up so your knees are raised slightly above your hips. that helps for sure i promise! when you are at home lay on the floor, if possible, and put your feet flat on the floor so your knees are elevated. this also helps relieve the pressure on your lower back. also when you are at home, bend over a counter. while bending over, have someone push down on your hips. also have them push on the area right about your butt crack. this relieves some pain by somewhat seperating your spinal column. this helps with the pain because seperating the colums allows not pressure on the nerves in your spine. if all else fails, talk to a chiropractor. they deal with pregnant patients often. |
