I'm Currently Feeling: | need advice ladies on the flu :-( I have the flu It started yesterday and today its just worse. I had to ring the nurse today to get my glucose test results which were all clear so I asked her what I could take for it. She said that I could take paracetemol. I don't really want to take it though. Just wondering if any of you girls had the flu and took paracetemol. did it do any good? My head hurts and my nose is running and I have a sore throat. does it help with this ? I just don't want to take it if its not going to do much good. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | If you go for avoidance then drink lots of fluids (oj, water, and lots of hot tea!), keep some cough drops with you for your throat, and try an ice pack for your head (makes me feel better when I have bad headaches). Oh, and lots of sleep.

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hot lemon or blackcurrant. Maybe if you get a bowl of steaming water (nothing in it) and breathe in the vapours with a towel over your head. That can help clear the airways.
I heard that vicks vaporub is ok in pregnancy as well - maybe check with the doctor on that one. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Mm, no I just rough it out no matter how bad the situation. Here in Canada they have some spray stuff that numbs the back of your throat, it works quite well and pregnant women can use it. I don't know if they have it where you are?
I don't trust taking any medication while pregnant, they used to think it was okay to take anything and found out later it wasn't. I don't trust all those damn scientists lol. But that's just me. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Just had a cold myself. I took a total of 2 paracetamol the whole time as I didn't really want to take anything. I would only take half at any one time, just to take the edge of it. Crap time, I really feel for you. Others have mentioned having hot lemon drinks. Stay in bed and relax with the tele. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I have the odd paracetamol when I get really bad headaches. But I don't like taking them if I can avoid it. I'd try hot lemon too, and the idea of decongesting with hot water sounds good! Hope you feel better soon |

| How horrible for you - I hope you feel better soon.
I had a nasty cold a few weeks back and had hot water with honey and lemon which was lovely. I did take paracetamol a couple of times when I felt really bad - both my GP and MW have said that paracetamol is OK, though I still wouldn't take much. Also I slept almost constantly for 4/5 days which worked wonders! | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | I'm full of cold at the moment and have had a headache for days so I gave in and took one paracetamol today. I'm gonna have some hot lemon and go to bed and see if I can get through tomorrow without anything. Its frustrating because its not a bad cold - under normal circumstances a couple of paracetamol and a Lemsip or two would see it off!!
