weirdest thing happened this morning and totally freaked me out - anyone else???

So this morning i woke up and i had a large bump about the sixe of a grapefruit up alongside my belly button and it was rock solid - only it was only on the left side. It was a clear hard sphere. My uterus - although noticable and firm - is still quite low. I woke up and loooked like i had an alien growth on one side of my abdomen - i can't explain how weird it was. Where my uterus usually is didn't feel as firm. Anyway i got up to go to the loo (number 2) and then i completly disapeared! Obviously there is not enough room for a full bowel and everything else in my abdomen but i have never had this before - anyone else??? I don't know if my full bowel pushed mu uterus up temporarily or if it was something else - soooo freaked me out.

Did it hurt? Does it hurt? I'd call the midwife and just ask, it's sounds a bit weird to me x

Hi mrsprogers - thanks for replying. No it didn't hurt, i could just feel the pressure from it. It completely disappeared after going to the bathroom and all is fine now but it really did weird me out! I will mention it to the midwife when i see her in a couple of weeks but if it happens again i might ring her.

Could be the position of the baby. When one of mine balls up and has his/her back to the front of my stomach, It is always looks and feels like a hard ball. If it doesn't hurt I wouldn't be concerned.

thanks ladypotter - my husband wondered if it was just the baby moved up but it was only temporary and was about 8 cm higher than normal and just to one side is that normal?

every morning depending on what side I have slept on ...usually my right I have a rock hard ball of baby and it looks ridiculously weird...the first time i saw it I called my mum in a total flap becasue I thought I had some sort of growth and she said dont be stupid its just the baby.... she said to either give it a gentle rub or get up and move about/have a wee etc and it will settle in a different position and it does this every morning !! dont panic Im sure yours is the same but I admit it freaked me right out the first time!!!! :P

I think it was just the baby. I know i've had it a lot where the baby squidges up on one side and it feels really odd and hard... it freaked me out too the first time it happened. After a little while the baby moved and everything went back to normal x x x

I have this all the time! The baby will just morph into the wierdest positions! My bump isn't very big at the moment so I think there isn;t loads of fluid around the baby and mine changes into ridiculous shapes all the time because it's pretty much all baby if that makes sense?! It was in a strange sticky out position when we went for our gender scan and when the picture came up he was lay with his feet sticking right up pushing my belly out! I wouldn't worry about it xxx

Could be baby or another organ? Right early on I've had a hard bulge up high which must be organs being squished out. It's especially hard if I have to go to the bathroom.
