The MW or doc can refer you to the physio.
SPD happens because the hormone relaxin, which every woman has more of in pregnancy to help the ligaments stretch, over produces. This causes the ligaments around the Pelvis to loosen too much, allowing the bones to crunch and grate over each other. Woman who get it, have it in varying degrees, sometimes it's just a niggle when you roll over in bed, or step out of the bath. And others find it extremely painful, to the point where they can't walk without the aid of crutches, or not at all.
There is no cure for it in pregnancy, but as soon as you've given birth, your hormones return to normal, and the symptoms pretty much disappear straight away. However, if not treated properly in pregnancy, you can have ongoing problems after birth, so thats why it's important to see a physio. Make sure you push for it, as a few docs and MW's won't send you unless you really make a fuss.
If you can afford it, I would highly recommend a visit to a Chiropracter. Expensive, but well worth it
