I?m not having one either!
If I get the chance oif a quick free 4D photo then I'd take it but I garee £100 ish is a lot of money, and I've also been spending a lot of home improvements getting ready for baby's arrival - £100 is a lot!

Also, I worry about the safety of scans. They say they are safe, think they are, but they still try and reduce the length of them..in case.
I'd rather just stick to the medically necessary scans.

So you're not missing out - plenty of us arent having one.
I mean - in a few months we'll see our babies in all their glory as much as we want!!!!

Wow-didnt think id find so many replies this morning! Thank you all again for taking the time to post (ill get clicking on 'thanks' in a mo!).

You've just reminded me about something-we aren't planning on finding out the sex of the baby so obviously a 4D scan would tell us this wouldn't it? I am looking forward to my OH ringing everyone up after the birth and telling them 'its a girl/boy' etc! We're quite traditional in that sense!

I've just seen a friends 4D scan photo's and (nobody tell me off for saying this) but they looked a tad creepy..... it made me re think the whole idea.My OH joked the 4D scans look a bit alien like (he said this not me!).

Im feeling a lot happier about not having the scans now-my nan is still amazed at the scans you normally get now, she never had anything like that when she had my dad. You were just left to get on with it kind of thing!

I'm not going to have one. OH doesn't like the thought of seeing the baby like that before it's born. We want to leave what she'll look like until shes in our arms. And plus cheapest one at my local is £175 which is nearly 2/3 of my buggy. So I can't really justify spending that much and didn't have one done when I had my son.

If you don't want to know the sex of your baby, at a 4d scan they wont look as long as you tell them.

I had a 4d scan done as i came into a bit of money. But it was a chance of a lifetime, there was no way i was going to be able to afford the scan without the extra money.

Don't feel left out because the money is well spent preparing for your little one. he/she will be here in no time and you will have a lovely nice house to welcome your new baby into :-)

We've put a lot of money into our home recently so its ready for the little one, and have scraped enough together for a week away for our wedding anniversary (not abroad)...so even £100 or whatever is a lot for us right now.

Im very excited about my 20 week scan on the NHS, and will be pleased to see him/her then...but part of me feels as if im going to miss out on something here im probably worrying over nothing, so someone tell me to stop being silly!

Don't be feeling left out as we have decided against because i find them kind of weird and i think it takes the magicalness away also we don't want to find out the sex. I find it makes the baby to much into a little person before their here if you know what i mean.

We aren't getting one done as it costs £195 here in Aberdeen ! I figured I could buy the buggie with that and still have change. We don't want to know sex as I want a surprise (love surprises I do!) and I think at those scans it is pretty impossible not to see the sex of the baby!

I have had my 20 week scan so won't see our baby until he/she arrives (unless there are complications and they need to scan me).

Don't worry, you aren't alone. Enjoy your next scan.
