can things get any worse?????

ok .... i may be worrying but my life im feelin down...

not sure if you know so a brief story is, im working part time, am 24 weeks pregnant and have been signed off for the past 4weeks with high bp..oh has been told he is being made redundant in 4 weeks and as he has his own problems im really not sure what kind of job if any he will get...

I get tax credits to top up my low income as well as disability as im registered disabled and today i have had a phone call from a fellow employee saying that my company has taken on another company so we now have four more offices...there are 2 parts to my company (part a ltd) and (part a financial) i am employed by part a....however i have been told that the other part has not had their contract renewed so their staff have had to be made redundant....

im now majorly panicking, i rely heavily on my tax credits aswell as my salary, what if i get made redundant? I have got to be working for my employer for up until the 13th of april to qualify for smp....i havent had any notice re redundancy etc yet but what if i do?? i would still qualify for ml but i wouldnt get any tax credits....

if i get made redundant now then i could possibly get a temping job etc so i would still get tax credits but if i am made redundant whilst on maternity leave then what the hell am i to do, i couldnt apply for other jobs and wouldnt get my tax credits.....

girls i can feel my bp is goin up by the second... i know this may sound really selfish but why does this always seem to happen to me....

h x

thanks for the kind words...

ive spoken to cab, acas and also tax credit people...

basically i have to hold fire and see if i get made redundant...as long as they dont do it before april 13th then i will be ok...if i get made redundant after that date, becaise i have made the 26 week continuous service then they will still have to pay me my smp (as long as i am in receipt of this then i will still get my tax credits as you are classed as employed if you are off sick, on maternity or due to start work within 7 days)...

i have spoken to a friend who needs someone part time on recpetion in her hair salon, she knows my situation fully obviously and has said if i get made redundant then i can work for her part time and qualify for my maternity allowance but not smp....

im just keeping my fingers crossed that i still have my existing job and all this is just a worry for nothing... some how knowing my luck i doubt it but PLEASE all keep your fingers crossed for me

thankyou

Oh hun, what a fcuker!!

My fingers and toes are crossed for you. You only have two working days left for them to tell you (in writing) that you are being made redundant.
If you don't get a letter tmorrow of Friday you should be ok hun.

Everything crossed for you

Awwww hun. It's all happened at once in one big bang. You may be alright but you should start looking for a job for your OH now, even if it's tesco's or something atleast it's money coming in and then he look later for what hes qualified for.

I hope everything works out for you xx

will OH get redundancy pay? There must be some sort opf job out there for him. Where there is a will there is a way I say.

Dont worry about your redundancy until it happens.
The worrying is no good for anyone. It might not even happen.....try looking on the bright side for now - it's the best option for baby at least. Stick your head in teh sand and keep it there. Ignorance is bliss perhaps.

And surely there will be some sort of child allowance or baby support you could get in the worst case scenario?
