Feeling Faint

I was cooking dinner yesterday as a treat for my mum, sister, neices etc
and all of a sudden from no where i started to feel really weak..
my hands were shaking and i did not feel good..
i thought maybe it could of been the heat so i opened window and then sat down to eat my dinner and eventually this feeling went away
but
it scared me is this normal?? or is there a way to prevent it??
I eat sensible meals and drink plenty!!

thanks xx

It's normal to have a few dizzy spells, especially as you go into the second trimester. Pop along to your MW and get her to take your blood pressure... it could be low, which isn't particularly dngerous for the baby, but will make you feel rotten. The other worry is aneamia which would mean taking an iron supplement, also fairly common. Just make sure you don't get up too quick, or turn around too quick, and don't carry anything heavy down the stairs. Hope you feel better soon

I've noticed myself feeling faint once in a while during the last few days. Read in my pregnancy book that it is quite normal in the second and third trimester. Some of the tips I read were to avoid getting overheated, avoid standing up too quickly, and eat something small every couple of hours.

i think its quite common to feel faint, but it could be a low sugar. when your sugar is low u feel dizzy, weak and your heart starts beating very fast and u feel hot. if u felt this way id ask them to check that for you.

Hi, i get this too and was referred to doctor. Was advised that when feel faint you must lie down so that your heart and brain are pretty much horizontal. That way your blood doesn't have to travel upwards to your brain which takes longer than if you were lying down. WHich means that your faint feeling should pass quicker.

Hope this helps and makes sense.

Also was advised that wearing support stocking may help if standing up for long periods in terms of blood flow.

I am dizzy all the time and they discovered that my blood pressure is very low...have your midwife check it if you get dizzy spells often.
But I'm sure than an ocasional dizzyness is quite normal....
