I'm Currently Feeling: | Forgot to mention after MW app yesterday..... A few of you will remember me asking advice about C-sections and SPD. Well, I went to the physio, and got referred to a consultant, who I see on the 29th of April, to discuss birthing options. My pelvis split last time a gave birth, as I suffer with SPD quite badly. So this time round, I was told I could consider c-section, so that it doesn't take the 3 months it took last time to recover. I had pretty much decided that Yes, this was the way I was gonna go.............. and now I'm all confused again
When I told the MW this yesterday, she was quite annoyed with the Physio for even mentioning c-section as a 'better' option for me, and even said she was going to ring her !! So now I'm dreading the next time I see the Physio.
She basically said, that when you have a c-section, all of the ligaments that are causing your SPD in the first place, are completely cut through, so you only mke the SPD worse. (Which makes sense, I suppose). So she said I'll end up worse than after a natural birth ??!! She said that that's a really 'old school' view of things.
My hubby still wants us to have the c-section. He knows how petrified I am of my pelvis splitting again. But now I feel like I'm going to be disappointing my MW ( who I've had for all three pregnancies, and get on really well with), if I go for the c-section. I know you're all going to say that it's my decision, and I shouldn't let her make my mind up for me. But what she said did sort of make sense I guess I'll have to wait and see what the consultant says. The other thing is, my MW knows the consultant, and I'm wondering if she will speak to her before my appontment.......
Sorry to go on.... I just always get really good views on both sides from all of you.
p.s I Don't want to hear about how 'natural is best' and all that.....ok |

I'm Currently Feeling: | hi ann-marie,
hope your well today? i would be tempted to wait and see what your consultant says.... i'm expecting twins and although i want a natural birth i know that i may have to go for c-section.
I've decided not to worry about it too much yet and go with the flow, I know your worried about splitting your pelvis again, but at the end of the day your having the baby (no one else..!!) so dont let your midwife or physio etc make your choice harder.
love and hugs
Emma

I'm Currently Feeling: | hiya hun, as above i think u need to wait to speak 2 your consultant. They'll probably have an idea what will be the best for you and baby and they'll obviously want to go with option with the least recovery time.
I hope u get it sorted soon, i know its a worrying option when all u want is for it to go smoothly!!
Anyway who said natural was best??? if they can do a quick tummy tuck with the ole c-sec i'd be well chuffed!! hehe!! (sorry i'm being silly!!) x |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Thanks. I know I shouldn't let them sway my decision, I think maybe I'm gonna have to do that thing that I'd forbidden myself, and research on Google
I was pregnant with twins but lost one early on... I can't imagine what I'd have been like carrying twins.. I think I'dve been in a wheelchair |

I'm Currently Feeling: | they cut through ligaments? ooouch!!
Splitting pelvis sounds awful tho!!...good grief, you poor lady! Jeeeeze...
With a c section, I read that these days they try and not cut through the muscle too much at least - they make a little hole then pull the muscle fibres apart - a bit like peeping through a hedge....this reduces the recoery time ets..Maybe they can do something similar with the ligamaents!? I'd have thought so...
but then I'm a secretary and not a doctor!
These docs should make their minds up and not confuse you.. . |
