Got a cold - what can I take to ease my suffering???

Well what a rotten few days!!!! I am slowly getting over it but wanted some suggestions if I got caught again!!

OH started with a cold last week and I was praying and praying that it would pass me by ................................. no such luck!!! It hit me on Saturday and by Sun I was a total mess. It's the first time I have had a cold a not taken anything for it!! Today I'm in work but oh feel rough. I took a couple of half paracetamol, but wasn't sure how many I could take and didn't really want to and felt too rough to get to the computer to ask you girls!!!! Saturday I did have half a strepsil as my throat was awful, couldn't swallow.

So now, after all the sneezing I was doing and coughing I AM doing, I am sure all this can't be good for baby!!! I know you can do light exercise but poor baby hasn't had any rest for days. My stomach muscles are very tight and now if I cough I get pains in my lower right side, almost going round to my back.

For future reference, what can I take to ease the suffering?

If you don't want to bother your GP, just pop into your local pharmacy and explain you got a cold, feeling rotten and you're pregnant. They should beable to suggest something for you as they did when I had a cough.

Ribena .................. they don't sell it in Bulgaria!!!!!!! First thing I wanted when I started feeling bad, hot Ribena curled up on the settee in front of the tele!!! I only had 1/2 a strepsil, just needed something, you don't think it will have done too much damage do you??? Pharmacy gave me paracetamol that is the only one they give to pregnant women, but even then, I just didn't like the thought of medication. I don't drink tea!!!!!! Oh, I will just have to suffer! Just hopes baby isn't too cheesed off with all the coughing I'm doing!

I looked up on the internet yesterday about strepils and although it didn't say DON'T take them, it didn't say DO either! Ask doc it said! But it was on Sat and only 1/2. No more. I will mention it to doc next week.

Things that say "ask your doctor" are usually not 100% safe and only recommended when the benefits outweigh the risks
