Charlie im sure everything will be fine, people do a lot worse when they are pregnant and their baby's are absolutely fine.
I cant see a few strepsils doing any harm, just dont take anymore.
Talk to your doc about it but all will be ok.
Get better soon

Hope you feel better

You poor thing!

I had a rotten cold weeks 10-11 and was coughing badly too. I took half a dose of paracetamol on my worst days and stayed in bed for a week! My MW said not to take anything else. I also had lemon and honey in hot water which made me feel better.

Luckily the cold was the same time as my dating scan so I could see baby was OK (this really worried me with all the coughing). The MW did also reassure me, though, that baby is very well protected in there.

Please don't worry about half a strepsil - I'm sure we all do things we shouldn't really do at one time or another and I bet baby is absolutely fine in there and probably has no idea of the suffering you're going through.

Hope you feel better soon.

I doubt you did any damage or they wouldn't say "ask your doctor" they'd just say "DO NOT TAKE WHEN PREGNANT"

No need to panic!
I had a cold at 6 weeks. Also couldn't swallow.. I heard that Strepsils were bad to take during pregnancy.....AFTER I'd had about 3-4.
Everything is fine with me.

I have no remedies that'll help. But I'd go see my pharmacist. Just make sure to tell them you're pregnant.
I went to get something for morning sickness from my pharmacy the other week. They guy fetched some pills started telling me how to use them then I said as long as they wont harm my baby "What? You're pregnant?"

Err.... why else would I be asking for something to help morning sickness

I use a humidifier when I go to bed, that helps loads.....
4Head is good too, coz it's menthol and helps your sinuses.
Ask the doc or pharmacist is the best bet

You do get more congested in the 2nd tri, it's one of the joys unfortunately

Oh God! Just picked up this thread and guess what.......... I'm sucking a strepsil!!!!! I had tonsilltis at the weekend and have lived off these - the pharmacist gave them to me (knowing I am pregnant). Think I'll go find something else!
I also have a cough now and said today that I was worried I was making my poor baby sea sick! Hope he/she is ok!

Sorry you have a cold......hope you fee better soon.

I had one a couple of weeks back and was told there was nothing I could take. My lovely husband made me honey and lemon drinks and it was gone in a couple of days. Perhaps try that? Buy pure honey from the supermarket and mix lots of squeezed lemon with boiling water with the honey and I swear your cold will go. It isn't the most exciting drink in the world but it shifted my cold!

Oh girls girls girls, thank you all so much, feel much better now Got me worried though I can tell you!!! Got a slight sore under my nose (really don't want a cold sore after all that!), nose and surrounding area is very dry so loads of nivea plastered on, but besides that, after 3 days of not doing so, I washed my hair and feel like a new woman today, although sinuses are playing up a little. Trust me to get this just as I'm getting rid of morning sickness!!!!

The coughing is getting to me, not the coughing, but the muscles pulls I get on my lower left ab, oh the pain. I keep sipping water to stop the coughing, but then I end up on the loo more!!!!!

So glad you're feeling better. It's really horrible. I'm dodging sick people like bullets at the moment. Had one woman at work sick about a week ago. She also has that outstanding devotion to her work so she was here every day. I still can't believe I managed to avoid that one.

I'll never forget. When I fell sick, morning sickness hadn't started yet but as my cold started clearing and I had to do all the throat clearing and coughin then the morning sickness arrived. NOT fun! Hoping you don't suffer too much with those two!

OH started with a cold last week and I was praying and praying that it would pass me by ................................. no such luck!!! It hit me on Saturday and by Sun I was a total mess. It's the first time I have had a cold a not taken anything for it!! Today I'm in work but oh feel rough. I took a couple of half paracetamol, but wasn't sure how many I could take and didn't really want to and felt too rough to get to the computer to ask you girls!!!! Saturday I did have half a strepsil as my throat was awful, couldn't swallow.

So now, after all the sneezing I was doing and coughing I AM doing, I am sure all this can't be good for baby!!! I know you can do light exercise but poor baby hasn't had any rest for days. My stomach muscles are very tight and now if I cough I get pains in my lower right side, almost going round to my back.

For future reference, what can I take to ease the suffering?
I had a cold back in January and it was a shock not to be able to take lemsips so i was having hotwater with honey and sliced lemons which was quite soothing. hope you feel better x
