You MIL and mine must be twins! She's totally bottle focused and I know she'll feel I'm being 'selfish' if I exclusively BF as she'll want to feed the baby as will all my SIL's and BIL's as thats what their used to, but I'm determined to BF and when I pump in the early days it'll be for my DH so he can feel included.

breastmilk can be frozen and then defrosted slowly in the fridge or in warm water. We found it fab to have little bits in bags for when we started weaning - somedays if we had say 5oz expressed we would split into 3 x 1oz and 1 x 2oz ready for mixing with baby rice at weaning time.

My son was breastfed til 23 months but only cos he wouldnt touch formula or a bottle! The milk I expressed we fed in a doidy cup or used in making his breakfast porridge.

Im not sure but if you are breastfeeding I dont think you are suposed to express til after a month - to give your supply a chance to establish - this obviously would be different if baby was in SCBU or had trouble latching on at the start in which case the expressing starts earlier but then usually you would have a breastfeeding support counsellor to call.

One thing we found very helpful was to go along to the local breastfeeding support group BEFORE little one was born, we only got to go once before he arrived as he was 5 weeks prem but the remainder of the girls in our antenatal class got a few seshes in before the birth and we all found it a help just to actually see what happens before we had to do it ourselves. Also enabled us to carry on longer as we had a support network if we had problems or questions.

If you have any other questions please feel free to ask or PM me
