i was told 10 movements every 12 hrs too... i was on the ctg monitor many times with my last pregnancy because i became way too paranoid about it.

Its confusing because we are all told different. But to me the most impoirtant thing is noing a pattern. I would never be satisfied with just 10 a day. When i spoke to a doctor he said that if i had 10 in the morning and got no more all day then that would be ok. But to me thats not right at all and i would get myself checked. Its harder when your working but now that im not i feel more and i generally get at least 1 movement an hour , normally its more than that. My midwife and consultant said 4 in a row would be 4 mmovements. But agagin i woiuld still expect movements every hour. Sometimes there are light and i have noticed a change lately where i get slightly less kicks but slightly more different movments. The more i stress and worry the less i feel. So then i would lie down on the bed and drink and then wait to see what i feel. This dosent always get her going but for many people this seems to work.
The one consistant thing that i have been told by all the consulants and midwife and doctors is to no your LO's pattern. From that you will no what is normaL for you and when to seek advise if it feels not right. I have been seen weekly since 25 weeks as my LO has quiet days and i dont handle worry. Although i have not needed to for 2 weeks which is a record. But the hospital dont mind how many times you go or call. they would rather see you 100 times for a false alarm than the once where you need to be seen.

To answer the questions about weather they would be able to save the baby. Depending on the cause behind reduced movments and how quickly it is noticed then there maybe options to save baby.

If you get 4 kicks one after the other class it as 1 movement if they are a good few minutes apart then each kick counts

The most impostant thing is to be aware of the pattern of movements and ANY change to always get checked on reduced movement can be fatal as i discovered I even told my consultant that i couldnt feel him move anymore was sent home and next day he had gone. Don't want to scare you but if i can stop it happening to only one person by putting a bit of knowledge into you all

goodluck to everyone xxx
Don't know your story but can see the picture of your beautiful angel on your signature s am sending you a huge (an obviosuly inadequate) hug. Thank you for posting and I will certainly keep your advice in mind if i notice any changes.

Thanks for telling me, I never knew that, I was led to believe that their movements slow down later in pregnancy as they run out of room, so i will seek help if the movements change or decrease. I hope you are growing a super wriggly baby this time.

The baby seems to move a bit in the morning and evening and not much in between (though I don't sit down for more than 30 mins between 8:30 and 4:30 as I'm a teacher) but certainly moves more than 10 times between me getting up and going to bed. He/she also seems to be quite wriggly for about a week then goes a bit quieter for three days then goes back to being super wriggly but had mw app during last quiet time and she found strong heartbeat and said as long as I still got movements then baby is just quiet because he/she is growing. I still worry every time the baby does it though!

This baby doesnt wake up until dinner time sit there thinking come on now dont be quiet, getting kicked so much right now

although there is less room they should still kick you and he didnt was rolling which eventually i couldnt feel it was heard on doppler but i couldnt feel it, you will get to know your baby and their patterns any doubts just get checked out straight away

stupid i called my delivery suite and everytime i called they always asked if this was first baby it always made me feel i was being paranoid so didnt go in when i shoud have

hope it makes sense and apologise if my horror story upsets anyone xx

As long as you are feeling baby moving regularly it's fine after 30 weeks. I don't think you need to "count" them as such unless you have been told to. xx

It makes perfect sense. Please don't ever worry about upsetting people by sharing your sad story, unfortunately what happened to you does happen and if anything we should be grateful you have shared your story as it may help another mother to not have to go through the agony you went and are going through.

I know what you mean about calling the delivery suite and them making you feel silly as they did it to me too when i was having bad cramps a few weeks ago (turned out to be related to my IBD but at the time I wasn't convinced).

at your baby going crazy in the evenings. Mine does too-I keep saying to my H that the baby movements make him/her just like my H, as given half a chance he would sleep all day and be up all night. It also has his stubborn streak as he/she will instantly stop 'performing' if you say to someone to put their hand on your belly and feel the kick. Also seems to share his love of jelly sweets and pub type food (shepherds pies, roast dinners etc) as always goes crazy when I eat them
