I was told the only think I could take was paracetomal. For the stuffy nose the pharmacist gave me some crystals to put in hot water and use as a steam treatment. Are your sinus' infected? If so you can be prescribed amoxicillin which clears it up in a couple of days.

sudafed is not ok in pregnancy at all

afraid its paracetamol is all that you can take but personally i wont even take that

for your stuffy nose would get some oils in some boilling water and a towel over your head that should help you but dont do it on your own in case you pass out

DO NOT TAKE ANY MEDICINE DESIGNED FOR COLD/ FLU ITS NOT FOR PREGNANT WOMEN

hope it helps xxx

I was strictly told not to use lemsip or anything of the kind. My doctor advised me all i could do was take small doses of paracetamol, along with hot water and lemon. Warm water and towel jobby for clearing the nose.

Always check with your docs before taking anything, although people on this site generally know what they are talking about, its always best to be on the safe side and contact a health professional.

To be honest hun I would speak to a doctor or pharmacist!!

I work at boots an when I had a really bad cold and cough I asked the pharmacist what I can take and he said nothing.. Paracetamol and up my fluid intake.. I wouldn't trust anything you read online about medication and pregnancy because there's so many do's and dont's!!!

xxx

It is not true that all you can take is paracetamol. Speak to your doctor and/or pharmacist, there are many others that are safe in pregnancy! If you live in Canada and have a question about a specific drug, call Motherisk Help Line run through Sick Kids in Toronto. I'm a doc but still double checked everything with them. Tylenol Cold (both day and night formulation) and Nyquil are fine, luckily!

I *think* those cold sore relievers are OK to take. Can you not call your GP yourself? Shame you can't use steam treatments, I found them really helpful.

It's frustrating that each medical person has different advice. When my migraines started my mw suggested co-codamol but the pharmacist wouldn't sell it to me! And my GP wouldn't prescribe it. Now I have SPD it's a different matter though!

Oh and paracetomal is perfectly safe. When I had my cold (prior to the sinus infection) my GP said it was perfectly fine to take 2 every 4 hours. You do need to be careful and just take regular paracetomal as some contain quite a bit of caffine I think, so not good if you take caffine elsewhere.
