Breastfeeding pumps manual or electronic?

Hello everyone

I plan on breast feeding LO and was looking at the breast pumps on offer obviously theres a big price difference between the two but if it makes life much easier i will happily save for the electronic one alltho i wondered if any mums have used both before or either or and how did you get on?

hi hun, i used the electric in the hospital as my wee one was in neonatal. i then went out and bought a manual one when i went home cos i couldnt afford a more expensive one. i would def go for the electric if u can afford it. i used the avent manual and you had to keep a steady pumping rythmn and felt like ages you were using it. the electric was just a case of pop it on and away we go. im saving for electric hun xx

hiya! ... i used a manual pump from the word go, and thought it was great! i used to just sit and gab to my hubby while pumping away lol ! i have just purchased a new manual pump from mothercare, its a tommee tippee one on special offer just now, RRP price was £95, and i got it for £42, check out the mothercare website !...also included with the pump is 4 large bottles, 3 small ones, 4 bibs, 4 dummies and some other stuff, so it was a great buy ! x.x.x

A friend of mine had a hell of a time with a manual one. Have you looked into renting an electric one? I think they're a lot quicker & easier

This is really a decision that should be based on how much you will be using it. If you will be pumping a lot - you will most definitely want to spring for an electric.

I would never bother with a manual - as I think its just too much work - LOL. But - my SIL - who rarely needed to pump, got a manual and was very happy with it. She is also VERY sensitive to noise, so she preferred the manual to an electric.

I also know a couple girls that didn't need to use either - they were able to just hand-express - but I could never figure that out personally. I mean - I could squeeze a bit out here and there - but not nearly enough to try and do it for a bottles worth!

i've used both electric and manual... and think manual is much easier to bring anywhere, even u can use it during traveling in the car... the electric seems become less efficient after few months i used it.... and i love manual Avent breast pump....
