Sorry, I know I'm panicking myself but I've got to ask

The sonographer said the placenta is 'reaching' on my cervix. Should I be worried? I've googled around a few sites and some say it's not serious at this stage and it'll probably just move up and others say it could be life threatening and lead to me spending a lot of time in hospital.

Not sure myself, but I have heard that it usually moves up. I'm sure that your doctor will keep an eye on it now that they know you have a low lying placenta

Luckily for you that you are only just about to hit 20 weeks! The baby is still quite small so the placenta has room to move!

I had a low lying placenta with baby number 2 it was discovered at 20 week scan i had a repeat scan at 30-odd weeks and it had moved apparently that is the case for a lot of women and i was able to go on and have a natural birth however i was informed by midwife if it hadnt moved i wouldve been scheduled for a caesarean earlier than my due date to stop any problems from occuring

I think you're meant to avoid sex if your placenta is low?

That is what I thought although the sonographer never mentioned it. I think I might avoid it until I see the midwife next week then I'll ask her.
