Question

Moses, crib or cot??

everyone. Woop i'm sneakin in to 2nd tri a day early!! Tho the ticker is set to the hospital date which doesn't match up with mine and dp's dates so technically i'm thinkin i should already be here lol! When i had my 12 wk scan the baby was C-R 10cm which, according to books, doesn't correspond. Anyone had a similair thing? They prob change dates at my 2nd scan ah well.

Anyways, me and dp have begun mentally shopping and i'm stuck! I can't decide whats best for the LO to sleep in the beginning. I really want Lo to sleep in with us at first but we don't have enough room for a cot in our room. This automatically rules out a cot or bedside cot. So then there's a moses basket or a swinging crib. Moses baskets are so pretty though but won't they only last LO a few weeks? Therefore, I can't help but think a crib is going to be more efficeint because they last a few months but i'm not as taken with them.

What is everyone else planning? Are there any advantages/disadvantages to any of them? Please don't tell me any proper horror stories tho!!!

Thanks all

i'll be going straight for the cot. OH and I will be sleeping in baby's room with him, so he wont get shocked when he's moved rooms later. I think I only plan on sleeping by him for a few weeks.. I want OH to geta good nights sleep when he has to go to work the next day.
thats the plan anyway...i keep changing my mind! I also agree a moses basket is pricey, and it can only be used for a short time - until baby can move about i guess.
Maybe you can get some decent priced second hand ones?

I'm doing moses basket then cot. Personal choice. It's fine for them to be in the cot straight away

I am most definetely opting for this, this time round, as it looks so snuggly and it folds down so you can take it from room to room, and to the inlaws/mums on visits

It's really reasonably priced too!

As for baby measuring bigger, at 12+5 my babe was 70.5mm Crown to Rump, which measured about 4 days bigger... but both my boys were long babies, and hubby, dad and father in law are all over 6 ft... so there you go

Thats quite a good idea of you moving to Lo's room rather than the other way round. Unfortunatly both our bedrooms are of a very similair size and we just wouldn't fit

thats very nice indeed...in fact I hadnt thought about baby sleeping during the day....bedorom is on third floor.....wonder if i'd rather he slept downstairs when tiny while I did jobs...or if a baby monitor would be OK...hmp..lots to think about!
I did get one of these for when i'm in the garden:http://cgi.ebay.fr/Tres-beau-couffin...QQcmdZViewItem maybe he could snooze in there during the day when small ...

i was just about to post this same thread!!

i've been talking to friends and my mum who have mostly said moses basket as it can be with you ie. sleep in the day in the living room, at night whilst your watching tv etc - especially helpful when breast feeding.

i'm still not sure though!? xx

Aww that crib is lovely. Classy and modern. Infact the Saplings website looks quite good (http://www.saplings.com/city.htm)
good for ideas at least. You're right aswell, on ebay it's a good price. Looking at Babies r us or somewhere it can easily cost £80+ by the time you've got the stand n stuff. Shopping seems to have become my project, prob for the best

Rearding the size, no one on either side of the family is particuarly tall. I was 12+3 at my scan, i don't think it's that far out, just a few days, no more than a week.

It's nice isn't it... I'm thinking of resale too when I'm buying, and I think this has great resale potential. Thats the excuse I'm using for me getting a Phil & Teds pushchair with double kit for my toddler

Gonna go straight for a cot. Mainly cos we can´t afford to buy a basket or crib then a cot a few months later. We´ll just have to make room! And we live in a flat anyway so being downstairs and baby upstairs isn´t a problem (cos we don´t have an upstairs, lol).
