I'm Currently Feeling: | Off to the GP... ...in half an hour.
Been really suffering badly with severe pain in my pelvis and legs to the point where the last two days I cannot walk without someone holding me up!
I saw GP about this two weeks ago but he said he was puzzled as to why I was in so much pain and to go back if it continued.
Well, a couple of my friends have told me about SPD, and looking at the list of symptoms, I tick virtually every box!
So I'm off to see what he says to that and I'm not leaving there til he comes up with a plan of campaign!! (My GP isn't very forthcoming usually!! lol)
Wish me luck! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Well, my GP in his infinite wisdom believes it's "just the baby pressing causing pressure down there making me uncomfortable!"
To which I barked... Uncomfortable?? More like excruciatingly painful!!!!
He believes physio is a waste of time, but he has requested blood tests to rule out a Vitamin D deficiency. I've just googled it and it's basically like rickets, and can cause severe bone pain. So we'll see if that throws up anything!
So in the meantime I just have to soldier on and hobble round as best I can. FFS! But I see my midwife on 8th April, so I'll bring it up with her again then too! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Please please please don;t just let them brush you off. I have had SPD with all of my pregnancies... each time worse, and I've had symptoms sice 8 weeks this time. If you don't get the proper treatment for it early on, you will have recurring problems... maybe even after babe is born. In the meantime, get yourself a support belt to wear, and do some very gentle core strengthening exercises. The best way I've found to do this, is to buy one of the big exercise balls, and sit on it as much as possible, and gently bounce. You are using your core muscles without really noticing then, and it's really comfortable for your pelvis too.
Make sure they refer you to a Physio.... if you can afford it, try to go for a couple of sessions with a Chiropractor too. They can be pricey, but they're sooooo worth it... just make sure they are trained for pregnancy.
Hope you get sorted
oooh... one more thing.... don't push heavy shopping trolleys.... that really makes it ten times worse |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Thanks for your advice Ann-Marie.
Do you know where I would get a support belt from? |

This is the one that I wore in last pregnancy, and I've been given one to wear this time too. It's fantastic. You only wear it when you're walking, as it's a bit uncomfortable when sitting down. It really holds everything together |

This looks really good too.
Don't bother with the ones that are just one narrow band, they don't work. |

| Sorry to hear you are in pain - but maybe it would be worth calling the midwives before your appt and discussing the pain with them. They might bring the appt forward or have some suggestions. I had really bad sciatica and struggled for a month before seeing the midwives and they actually had some things they could suggest (including referring to physio without GP!) and I regretted not speaking to them earlier.
Hope it gets better. |
