Low Lying Placenta?

Hi All

We had our 20 week scan, all great all is good with baby.

However I was told I have a low lying placenta and have to have a re-scan at 34 weeks?

Is this a common thing?

Thank you

Glad scan went well and everything is good with baby I had my 20 week scan today as well and I too have a low lying placenta. Im staying upbeat, as in most cases I understand it sorts itself out once the uterus begins to rise. Even the worse case scenario (caesarian) is handleable. HTH xx

Most low lying placentas grow up with the uterus as it expands - I think I read 95% do. I have one and am being rescanned at 36 weeks.

I had this at 20 weeks. By my scan at 32 wks it had moved up. 95% do so please don't worry - it's common.

Make the most of your bonus scan - you get to see LO again!

Thanks for your replies. This is my 3rd baby, but as I never had this with other 2 pregnancies, its not something I had heard of before. It's good to hear that it should sort itself out...and if not like you say they will do a csection.
