terrible back pain...

I've been off work since Wednesday last week. Heading to docs tomorrow.

I was up all night Tue last week with pains in my side, i'd have sworn they were AF pains if i didnt know better. Total agony cramps, constantly right over were my right ovary is. By the morning they had eased off but called the midwife to check things out and she said they sounded like ligament pains from uterus growing. (which is what i suspected them to be but just wanted some confirmation)

But ever since then i've had terrible back pain. Only on one side (my left) The only way i can describe it is like someone putting out a cigarette on my back. Thats how precise i can pin point it to. I've had scatica in the past and the pain i've got now is exactly the same, shooting pains down my leg. I can hardly stand and struggle with going up and down the stairs.
I thought maybe it would clear its self up but not had any joy there. I hope i'm not stuck with this for the next 4 months. The slightest movement the wrong way just makes me want to scream. I could tell work wern't impressed when i called one of my bosses this morning but there is no way on this earth i'd manage to go in there and be on my feet for 9-10 hours a day. I'm struggling as it is getting in and out the car nevermind anything else.

Aww, hun, I am sorry to hear of your back troubles. It sounds like your sciatica has returned and I hope there is something that can be done to ease the pain.

I've never had it but do know those who do and it's not fun!

could be related to having to stand for long periods? I read yesterday that in some parts of US they recomend pregnant ladies who have to stand for over 4 or 5 hours a day go on medical leave from week 24.
Just goes to show - standing is not good for us for long periods.
I only manage a while before i get lower back ache and need to bend forward to ease the pain for bend down. I was doing soem work at the weekend and after 45 minutes of standing still I was aching.

HI. Is the exercise helping?

I suffer from terrible back pain too, even before becoming pregnant. I've been advised to do gentle exercise and stretches and that really helps. To be honest when I haven't exercised for a few days my back aches more. Also, lying in a warm bath also eases my pains too.

Take care x

aww hun it does sound like sciatica sounds like your in a lot of pain and stuff what your bosses think you need to put your health first. Speak to your midwife as my friend got physio for her sciatica.

I have been having pains in my butt cheeks, lik ea nerve is trapped there and it hurts when I walk so I rekon I will suffer with it too but fingers crossed It doesnt get severe!

I wish that was the case in England! I work in a restaurant so can be working anywhere up to 7 hours on my feet and its not like I am stood still, on a busy night Im rushing around! I am really dreading how hard it is gonig to get as I get further along.

You may have your sciatica back, but also keep in mind your mussels and center of gravity are shifting around. Also the standing thing could definitely be part of it.
