| HELP Hi Girls,
A friend of mine does not have a computer so i said i'd ask a question for her, i'll get it as right as i can.
Basically she she got preg and didnt find out till she was 14weeks, she was so stressed about it cos she had not long split with her OH and so decided it would be best not to keep it (by this time she was 16weeks), she went to the hospital and took the tablet for a termination (1st stage), her better instinct kicked in and she changed her mind, the nurse said this was ok and the baby could still be healthy after doing this but she wants to know if anyone knows of someone who has done this and if all was ok with the baby, think she said the tablet was called Mifepristone.
Hope i got that all right.

I'm Currently Feeling: | Um if it was the termination pill, she should not only take the first pill. At least what they give in the US, it is very dangerous.
A friend of mine, his older sister took the termination pill, and they sent her home with the second pill to take later. She forgot and had only taken the first one. The first one contains the chemicals to end the pregnancy, and the second one was to clean out her system. Without taking the pregnancy, all of the bad stuff stayed in her system, and within a few days, she ended up passing away from toxicity.
I'm kinda surprised they would let her take the pill that late in the pregnancy, I thought that method was only used early in pregnancy. I hope she takes care of herself. =) |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I thought that the termination pill was for the first weeks of pregnancy up until 8 weeks. After that, a surgical abortion should be performed. http://mcmasterlifeline.com/index.ph...d=28&Itemid=40 |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I agree with Leeanne - here they only let you take Mifepristone up till 8 weeks. It blocks progesterone but I don't know how long for. It means that if the baby is still there though after the effects have worn off she should have a good chance. The bad side is it can possibly cause birth defects but being so far gone, her chances are good of avoiding this.
The best thing would be to see a doctor. I've heard of this happening before and you can even have bleeding but not actually lose the baby so it's important she gets checked out and talks to a doctor about any problems. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | In a case such as this, I would recommend that your friend should see a doctor. Only they would know the correct information to give her and they could treat her right away. I hope your friend and her baby is okay. |

| Yeh I'd ask my dr too. I'm a bit lost on this one.
I'm not familiar with that pill.
When I had my d&c last time my gynae prescribed me 4 tablets. He said they were used for terminating a pregnancy. What they do is they make the uterus contract. Two I had to take 5 hours before the op then the other 2 about an hour before. Obviously this can only be used in the early stages. At 16 weeks she'd need a d&c too. | | | | Status: Offline
