Circumcision ?

I HAD MY 20 WEEKS SCAN AND I HAVE A LITTLE BOY IN MY TUMMY!! WOOO!!
But I was also thinking, for all you mummies to be out there, are you thinking of getting your son circumcised? And for those of you with girls or who don't know what you're having, would you get your baby circumcised ? Does anybody know the pros and cons in doing so ?

i'm having a little boy and we're not sure about it. it is a personal choice and something that doesn't have to be rushed. we're just debating on now or later or if its the right thing at all.

I started a thread in I think first trimester about this. Definately opened up a can of worms!! So many people are against it, but my BF just had her newborn done and her boy went great. Of course it's under anaesthetic. Our doc here won't do it if they r over 3wks.

I didn´t have DS done, not because I disagree with it, I just didn´t think it was necessary and DH didn´t want him to have it done x

It's actually banned in Australian public hospitals in all states except one. The Children's Commissioner in Tasmania wants to ban it there completely.

I think it's a personal decision too, but that the decision should be the child's. It's their private parts after all. If my son wants to be circed when he's 18 (maybe 16 if he knows what he's doing), I'll gladly pay for it, and help him find the best surgeon around, but until then, I don't want anyone cutting parts off his penis.

If you wait, it's safer, it hurts less, and the results are cosmetically better.

It's completely a personal decision that you and your OH have to make. You cannot make your decision based off of anyone elses opinion. Everyone has a different background and were raised different. Especially here on this board, we are from all over the world.

I am here in the US and it is a very common practice. It wasn't even a question for us. Here it is done one day after birth. Neither one of my boys even flinched when it was done. The PlastiBel that they use here takes all of 2 seconds to perform and it's done.

You should really research it so that that you and OH feel that you have made the decision that best suits your beliefs. Good Luck!

I would absolutely definately agree that it is a very personal decision!!!

We have decided that if we ever have sons then he will be, OH is and it is something we have known we will have done.

I am not the sort of person to push my views on anyone else but that is what we would do.

Hope you make a decision that you and babies daddy are happy with.

Congratulations on the blue bump!!!
