I agree with coccyz you should consult your MW about this. It is very common during pregnancy, and I've read of a lot of girls on here who are experiencing one form of depression or another, it's nothing to be ashamed of

I have felt like this for probably about the last couple of months and was worried about saying anything about it. Its good to know that it is common so we can be aware of it.

I thought there must have been something wrong with me cos this is such a wanted pregnancy and i was wondering why i wasnt "blooming" like i should be by now.

It did worry me too that if i felt like this now, then what would i be like when the baby is born, postnatal depression really worries me.

My gp told me when I was pregnant with my 1st that if you got depressed during pregnancy you were alot less likely to get depressed after....dont know if there is any truth in that but it def worked that way for me with that pregnancy.

Hope you are feeling better soon & dont forget that we are hear to listen to you. I wouldnt like to think anyone on this forum would judge you xx

I just read this on a pregancy website and thought of you "Depression is a common affliction among women in general, and pregnant women are no exception. According to the Women’s Mental Health Program at Loyola University Health System, between 12 to 20 percent of pregnant women suffer from depression, and many cases may go undiagnosed. Depression is a serious condition that affects many women. If you are suffering from depression, talk to your doctor about getting treatment. Group therapy and one-on-one counseling with a psychotherapist are also great medication-free ways to deal with depression. Getting proper treatment is important for your health, and the health of your baby."

Good luck getting through this - remember we are here to listen and help, not judge.

Help!

I know this is an old thread, but I'm reviving it! I'm suffering with difficulties right now, and I need support. I don't know if I'm going through ante-natal depression, but it sure feels like it. I'm around 20 weeks along, and this is my first child. I'm scared out of my wits and it feels like i can't do anything right! From not being consistent with housework, to not following through with commitments, to not taking my pre-natals, to not eating regularly, I'm feeling like a total failure. DH, who is 13 years older than me is getting tired of my inconsistency, is telling me he's not going to raise me too; he'll be my lover, friend, spouse, partner, but not my parent- and I don't blame him. I just feel like I don't have my life together now, and having a baby won't make it better- I'll just have more things to fail at. Can anyone sympathize? How are/did you cope?
