I'm Currently Feeling: | Went to the doctors today! First of all, heard the baby's heartbeat - 145 bpm We found it last week with the doppler we have at home so that put our minds at ease
Secondly, I told him I didn't want to go through with the amnio. He said I was healthy anyhow and probably would be ok. I will be getting a triple blood test done though in a few weeks.
And, my gosh, I couldn't have gained 16 lbs. already. Quite truthfully, I eat a bit more than I normally do but not all that much. I truly think their scale is screwed up. I weigh 108 at home and at the doctors it was 111. I think it was my shoes! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hey Leanne
I have just asked the doc about a scan for detecting Down S. (nochnal??) and he told me they only do the amnio, in Sofia, I would have to be there for 2 days. I am 38 this year, will be by the time baby is born, no downs on either side but you never know. I do not want an amnio, nor do I want to be in the city that long, daft decision ...... both myself and OH said we won't go for it. Also the doc said looking at the scan, there is no problem and he doesn't think I need it. Would he be able to tell off a normal black and white screen dating back to the 1970's????? |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I can totally understand why you don't want to go through with it hun. I said from the get go that I would never have one, I'm far too scared.
Im sure everything will be fine, but downs syndrome isn't even as crippling as people think. A lot of people who suffer from it go on to lead very happy and normal lives.
I know now that Ive felt my baby kicking that even if he does have it, I wouldn't have changed any of the decisions I have made. If that makes sense. I love him so much already, and anything that comes with him, thats just the way he is

I'm not sure if it's because they use different equiptment, or if she didn't know what she was supposed to be looking for, but I'm pretty sure your doctor wouldn't have said what he did unless he was sure.

I'm Currently Feeling: | oh I wouldn't get it far too worried about bump! I've read that there's also a VERY VERY slim chance the mother can miscarry after having the test done. As slim as they are I wouldn't take the chance. |
