Birth Stories

Hello

well i've been reading lots of birth stories lately which havent scared me i just like to know what is going to happen to me lol. But theres one thing i'm really WORRIED about in all the stories i read the couple have gone to hospital and because the womans only like 2cm dilated the husband or boyfriend gets sent home for a little bit and they call him when to come in, but i dont want my OH to go home i want him there the whole time even if i'm sleeping i dont want to get so far and they dont realise and he doesnt have time to get back, i want him there for all of it. Do you think they would make him go home or if i kicked up a fuss they would let him stay?? I still see myself as being young as i'm only 20 and i would be scared without him there. He will be my strength through it all

If you really want him to stay I cant see them making him go but it might be an idea to talk to your midwife about it at your next appointment.

When I was having my babies, both were overdue. They induced me both times and I was in hospital waiting to go to the delivery room for 2 nights each time. They sent my husband home then which the first time wasn't too bad because nothing was happening. He didn't got till sometimes gone midnight and he was back in at 7am so I didn't really realise he was gone.

However the second time they induced me my body reacted very quickly and they sent him home whilst I was having really strong contractions. They did an internal and a stretch and sweep just before he was sent home and then told me to go to sleep. Obiviously there was no way I could sleep because I was having contractions and I'd already been told that I was 3cms dilated! At 3am I was screaming for pain relief and to be taken to a delivery room but in the end they gave me drugs to stop the contractions as they said I was at the stage where they could just pop my waters when they had room for me to be delivered. That was a horrible night and I wish I'd complained really.

I would definately have a word with your midwife about your worries. The reason why I was told that he couldn't stay was because it was invasive for the other women but I think if you really push for it, they can't force him to go home.

I have also been reading up on birthing stories and the thing that freaked me out the most is the fact that a lot of women poop while pushing the baby out! Gross! As if having your bits on display isn't embaressing enough.

My DH is staying LOL

I don't think they'll make him leave. They may suggest it?

Mine wont want to leave. I remember back when we first started dating I had to go and have my wisdom teeth removed. I had them all taken out at once so I was put under. Anyway we had been waiting and waiting. Eventually he said he was going to the bathroom and then for a smoke.

After he'd gone they came and whisked me away into theatre (however it's spelt)
He got back to find an open space where my bed was. He frantically searched around for me to find I'd been taken in.
He knew my mom would come to take me home so he went to work.
When I woke up to find my mom and not my bf there I was highly upset, crying and asking where he was. He felt aweful!

When I went in for my D&C last year he never left my side. He stayed in the ward while I was in theatre and he was there when I got back. He said he'll never leave me in hospital again EVER!

So I know if they say he can go home he'll just laugh at them.
