Weight Gain

Does anyone know how much weight i should have put on by now at nearly 23 weeks? I read somewhere it should be between 10 - 15 pounds.

I had a massive shock jumping on the scales last night and found i have put on 18lb already! My appetitite has just soared from the word go, and i didn't have any sickness or anything to stop me from eating.

I'm in the same boat as you: never got morning sickness and my appetite is sky high! I've shockingly only put on about 12 lbs. I only check my weight at the dr.'s so I don't obbsess about it But every woman is different and I'd say that you are just fine I also sometimes eat out of boredome so I've been trying to keep healthy snacks so that way at least the extra lbs will melt away faster and easier after birth, it'll be harder if all the extra weight is from junk food, ya know?
I think 10-15 pounds is about right too, but who knows, maybe your gaining will slow down later on to even it out..

Just answered my own question and found the article i had looked at before: heres a bit i've copied if anyones interesed.... looks like i have but on about 3/4 lb too much (not too bad will just have to be more careful!)

Your weight gain during pregnancy won't be steady either - most women put on around 1.8kg (4lb) in the first 12 weeks, then around 0.5kg (1lb) a week for the next three months (5.5-6.4kg or 12-14lb in total) and only around 4.6kg (10lb) over the last 12 weeks or so. But remember, these are average figures for large numbers of women so just because your weight gain pattern is different, it doesn't mean anything is wrong.

So what's normal?
You can expect to put on anything from 9-16kg (20-35lb)‚ but it could be more or less depending on whether you were over or underweight at the outset. Remember, though, everyone is different which is why you shouldn't worry if you're outside the 'average' figures quoted here.

Baby: 3.4kg (7.5lb)
Placenta: 0.68kg (1.5lb)
Extra fluid: 1.36kg (3lb)
Increased blood: 1.25kg (2.5lb)
Amniotic fluid: 0.8kg (1.5lb
Uterus: 0.9kg (2lb)
Fat deposits: 3.18kg (7lb)
Breasts: 0.5kg (1lb)
TOTAL GAIN: 12.02kg (26.5lb)*

I asked the dr yesterday about this.

I was really curious to know if I was on track. I thought I'd gained at least 5kgs since my alst check up. But I'd gained 1,5kg. So in total I've gained 4.5kg.

He said how they liek to work it out is you need to gain 5kgs in the first 20 weeks.
So if I gain 1kg by the next checkup i'll still be in my limits if I gain more I'll be pushing it. But he reassured me that it wont be the baby who'll get affected. Just me when it comes to loosing it all again lol

Before I got pg I was just under 15 stone!

I somehow lost 12lbs over the first 14 wks and dropped to 14st exactly... and am still 14st at 21 wks, so I haven't gained any weight at all?! In fact, I wonder if in theory I'm still losing weight as surely bump etc... should've have upped my weight slightly? So if I'm still the same weight, then I must have lost as much as the bean has gained? (Sorry... that turned into a bit of a waffle! )

I have only had my weight checked once at my booking appt back at 13wks, my MW nor GP has ever weighed me since?

Hmmmm..... strange?!

Jules - I wouldnt worry about an extra pound or two. I'll update this thread on Friday - my next weight-in at the docs!
Last time at 17 weeks I'd gained 12 lbs. He said that was OK. Maybe a pound or two too much, but nothing to worry about. I had been eating healthily. Maybe not excericisng...but I wont worry. My belly and chest are my main weight gain zones - i might try adn weigh my chest alone for a laugh tonight! Seriously weighty.

But i think I'll be about the same as you you know. We're just fine with our weight gain. The figures are all just averages.

Are you carrying a boy? You do tend to gain more weight if you are carrying a boy. Dont worry about the weight. Breastfeeding burns 500 calories a day! Yippee!

I don't know my baby wouldn't let us see! I have a strong feeling its a boy though and boys run in my family. Plus big ten pounders too!

Going to take everyones advice and not worry about my weight gain so much, might cut back on the creme egg i been having everyday tho! The sausage and egg mcmuffin i just had from mcdonalds was delicious

OK, so had the dreaded weigh-in at the docs today. In total I've gained 8.8 kilos - around 19lbs. And this is by week 22!
Looks like this summer will be a hot one!

I've gone from 9.9. stones to 11.3 so far throughout this pregnancy. Hahah so funny.
Doc said it was nothing to worry about - even the gain of half a stone in a month (which shocked me somewhat!!) I've been eating healthily and have been eating lots of fruit when what i've really craved is a kitkat, so I can't do anymore but stop eating. Which I'm not prepared to do.
Doc was happy, and I'm happy.

Baby was also happy - heart was beating well and we had a mini scan today (just to check the heart beat really) and I saw him waving his arms about.

This I'll post a new belly pic in the photo thread today - just so proudly show off my new bulkyness!
