Yes, as long as you are both negative, or both positive it is not a problem. It is only a problem when one is positive and one is negative. And only then with the 2nd, 3rd, ect pregnancies.

I think if you are 100% sure of your partner's blood group there would be no need. In most cases people don't know this, so it is just precautionary. Both DH and I are blood donors, so know for sure. You don't HAVE to have the shots either, my MW said it is up to me. I will be going for them though!

The only time you NEED it is if you are negative and your partner is positive.
If baby happened to be a positive and any blood transfered between you such as during birth your body would create anti-bodies against the rhesus in the blood.
Then in a subsequent pregnancy there is the possibility that your body may detect the rhesus and send in the anti-bodies seeing your LO as an infection - eeks.
The anti-D shots stop you from making the anti-bodies.

Both DF and I are A negatives so no anti-D shots for me woohoo.

I was rouitinely given the anti-D injections for my first 2 pregnancies but with my 3rd and fourth pregnancies i was given the choice to have the father tested too to see wether i would actually need them. Thankfully my sons father(now ex) and my new partner are both negative so didnt need them
