No Midwife appointment for 7 weeks now.

Hi Girlies

Just seen my midwife today and I am 21 weeks. She checked everything and all was ok apart from my cloudy pee. (Two samples I did earlier in the day went cloudy, the last was ok but she didnt seem concerned!)

Anyway she booked my appointment for a glucose tolerance test for january 12th then told me that as it is my 3rd baby she wont be seeing me for 7 weeks!

I thought I hadn't heard properly but then she booked my next visit for the middle of January!

Just because I have already had 2 children doesn't make me an expert or any less important and it has really annoyed me.

Anyone esle had this?

It's the same in my area. I'm having my first baby, but it says in my notes that the 25week appointment is only for first time mums. So here that means not seeing your midwife between 16 and 28 weeks for subsequent babies. Obviously the scan would be in between, but that's not a proper midwife appointment. xx

ETA: I don't agree with it, and if I have a number 2 I will think it's ridiculous, just saying it's the same where I am xx

god thats bad i thought the minimum was every 4 weeks, if thats the same for everyone where you are why dont you go to see your GP for your checks that are missed out, id be fuming alot can happen to your blood pressure and urine alone in 4 weeks! what a silly system

i hope you find a way round it ladies

hun i had a scan at 10 weeks and was told to come back on 10th march when i will be 28 weeks. so thats 18 weeks between appointments although i take it as a good sign as they are so not worried about me and baby.

I agree with Twinkle Star maybe speak to your GP and book those other appointments? Sound very unfair that only first time mums get more appointments????

I know how you feel.. I had my 16 week appointment on monday which was 5 days early.. She didn't feel bump or check for a heartbeat and then told me to ring on the 4th of January to make an appointment for the beginning of February when I'm 25 weeks.. Thats 10 weeks?? This is my 1st.. I saw my MW today - 16 week appt. and she said she'll see me again at 28 weeks!!! When I said 'that seems like a long way off' she said well you'll have your 20 week scan inbetween....as though I should be satisfied! Had no idea it's because I'm a second-time mum - she forgot to mention that!

Anyhow, to be fair she said I could ring her anytime if I wanted to or had concerns.....hate to say it but they are so pushed with lack of funding and under-resourcing that I'm afraid that's the NHS all over!!
