Being a bad mom

Ok, I'm having a horrible day. I had a dream last night that I forgot to put clothes on the baby and he froze when we went outside in his stroller.

I know that dream is absolutely ridiculous, but I can't get the idea out of my head that I'm going to be a horrible mother. I have been around babies before, I have helped care for babies before, but I have never had sole responsibility for baby care and I don't think I'm going to do it right!

What if I don't dress baby warmly enough? How many layers is right? What if I dress him too warm? What if I don't bathe him right? Or don't feed him enough. Ladies, I'm driving myself crazy!

Awww hun, firstly bad dreams are really common with pregnancy. Ive had some crackers!

Also you will be surprised how much instinct will actually kick in when bubs is born when it comes to feeding etc

Warmth wise, they say you should go off your own temp. If you have a tshirt on and so does baby and you feel cold, then put another layer on baby too and vice versa xx

I've been having some pretty trippy dream too in the last few weeks.

I also worry about being a good mum but as Sam9kids says I'm sure a lot will be instinctive when the time comes (well i'm hoping so anyway)

Lol, thanks ladies. I have these days when I decide for some reason that I'm completely incapable of being a mother!

I read that on average you should put one more layer on the baby than you have on... I think that was for new babies. Bearing in mind that the temperature inside mummy's womb was around 36c? I'm sure you'll make a great mum, try not to worry. Instinct will take over, also reading as much as you can about baby care may help improve your confidence.

yes bad dreams are bread and butter of pregnancy husband usualy asks on a daily basis now - so in your nightmare last night how did i die? So far its been sharks, drowning, aligators you name it its happened.

Only had two nightmares about the baby one when i droped it when i was washing her and one when i was trying to cut her toe nails and her feet would not stay still so i missed and took off a toe - woke up crying both times but i did not feel like i would be a bad mom so no reason you would be.

I think everyone goes through this... The gravity of being pregnant has finally hit me... at 26 weeks... and I've just spent about 4 days walking round vacant and lost with a strong desire to pull my hair out whilst moaning "I'm going to be depended on, I'm going to be depended on..."!

I had a dream once that I drowned my little sister by accident... she's ok and 6 next year.

I think the fact that you are worrying so much about being a bad mum just goes to show that you will be an amazing mummy
